MATLAB: Is Windows asking which program should be used to open the installer

Question

When I double-click on the downloaded "installer" file, Windows prompts me to select the program that should be used to run the installer. How can I run the MATLAB installer?

This happens when the "installer.exe" file has lost its file extension (.exe) during the download process. Windows is not recognizing the file as an executable.

To open the installer, rename the file to "installer.exe", then run the file again.
