I am trying to install "Vehicle Network Toolbox Support Package for Kvaser CAN Devices", but the installation fails with a "Failed to download the third-party software" error.
Is there a workaround for installing the Kvaser drivers?

For some reason, NI-IMAQ 4.6.4 driver is not available for download from NI's website. The driver is automatically installed with the Image Acquisition Toolbox Support Package for National Instruments® Frame Grabbers.
But installing the support package requires MATLAB to be installed on the machine.
The two options for installing the NI-IMAQ 4.6.4 driver on machines that do not have MATLAB installed are:
Option 1:
NI-IMAQ driver/library is included with the "NI Vision Acquisition Software" package, which can be downloaded from NI's website. NI-IMAQ 4.6.4 version is included with a "NI Vision Acquisition Software" version from 2012.

Option 2:
Another way to get the setup program for the vendor driver is to launch MATLAB Add-On Explorer from a computer with an installed MATLAB.
Step 1: Click on Add-Ons button and select Get Hardware Support Packages.
Step 2: On Select and action page choose the Download from Internet option.
Step 3: Select the NI Frame Grabbers support package and download the Image Acquisition Toolbox Support Package for National Instruments Frame Grabbers.
Step 4: After the download is complete the setup program will be in the SupportPackages folder, for example:
C:\Users\username\Downloads\MathWorks\SupportPackages\R2017a\downloads
You can then install the NI driver from there.
This can happen when:
- "Vehicle Network Toolbox Support Package for PEAK-System CAN Devices" fails to install (and the vendor's device drivers are not installed)
- "Vehicle Network Toolbox Support Package for PEAK-System CAN Devices" installs successfully, but the vendor drivers are not configured properly during the driver installation.
- "Vehicle Network Toolbox Support Package for PEAK-System CAN Devices" installs successfully, but the vendor drivers installed the 32-bit version of PEAK SDK instead of the 64-bit version.
As a workaround, follow these steps to manually install the vendor drivers:
1. Navigate to "C:\Windows\System32" and look for "pcanbasic.dll" ( if there is no pcanbasic.dll, continue to step 2 ). Right-click on the DLL, and click on "Properties". On the Details tab, if the "File description" indicates that this is a 32-bit DLL, then delete this DLL.
2. Uninstall any existing PEAK-Drivers from Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features
3. Go to the manufacturer's website, Downloads section to download the driver package:
Under Drivers > Click on "Download" next to "Device driver setup for Windows"
4. Extract the downloaded zip file.
5. Execute PeakOemDrv.exe, and during setup make sure the following options are checked/enabled:
- CAN device drivers
- PCAN-Basic
5. Reboot computer.
6. Connect the PEAK-System device.
7. Open vendor utility PCAN-View and confirm that the device is detected, then close PCAN-View.
8. Restart MATLAB and execute canChannelList to confirm that the device is detected.
Note that:
- To have the PEAK-System CAN device detected in Simulink, the device needs to be plugged in before MATLAB is started.
- To have the PEAK-System CAN device detected in MATLAB or Simulink, you need to close PCAN-View before MATLAB is started.
