MATLAB: Is the NI PCI-6221 board not supported by the Data Acquisition Toolbox when the NI PCI-6222 is

I would like to use the NI PCI-6221 board with the Data Acquistion Toolbox. The "Supported Hardware" section of the Data Acquisition Toolbox product page shows that the NI PCI-6222 is supported, but the NI PCI-6221 is not listed.

When I check with National Instruments, they say that they do not sell a NI PCI-6222 data acquisition board.

This enhancement has been incorporated in Release 2006a (R2006a). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:
The NI PCI-6222 is an older data acquisition board that is no longer in production. It uses the Traditional NI-DAQ drivers, which are supported by the Data Acquistion Toolbox.
The NI PCI-6221 is a newer M-series data acquistion board that uses the NI-DAQmx drivers, which as of the Data Acquisition Toolbox 2.8 (R14SP3+) is supported.
