MATLAB: Is the copy of the QUIVER plot full of large dots when it is copyied to Powerpoint

I perform an Edit–>Copy Figure and paste the figure in Microsoft PowerPoint. However, the dots that were previously small on MATLAB figure are now very large on the Power Point.

This is an issue with the resolution of the image copied - dots per inch (DPI). You can increase the DPI by performing the following:

print -dmeta -r300 test_image

This is a bug in MATLAB. It has been brought to the attention of our development staff so that it may be fixed in a future release of MATLAB.

The plot that is pasted into the Microsoft application actually does contain all of the necessary information. If you view the document using the Print Preview option or change the zoom percentage to less than 100%, the axis lines and border will be displayed.

As a workaround, in the Microsoft application, change the size of the pasted image (making it smaller) by dragging a corner inward. Alternatively, in MATLAB choose "Match figure screen size" in the "Copy Options" of the "Figure Copy Template" Preferences.

We have verified that there is a bug in MATLAB 7.0 (R14)) in the way that the PRINT command handles the 'FontUnits' property when it is set to 'normalized'.

To work around this issue, set the "FontUnits" property to its default value "Points". You may modify this property using the following set of commands.

% The figure in question should be the current figure at this point
   ax=findobj(gcf,'Type','axes') 
   set(ax,'FontUnits','points')

Alternatively, you may print to a postscript file and use a third party image conversion program to convert the image to TIFF format.
