The ability to sense masses and moments of inertia that are computed "From Geometry" is not available in SimMechanics 4.0 (R2012a).
The capability that is currently available is:
1. Applying unit forces and torques to the body and looking at accelerations.
2. Using the Mechanics Explorer to view the computed centers of mass of the individual bodies graphically by clicking on the center-of-mass icon in the toolbar. This can serve as a rough estimate for correct computation of mass and inertia tensors.
3. Models imported from CAD platforms will show numerical values for masses and moments of inertia.
This desired functionality has been introduced in MATLAB R2017b.
