MATLAB: Is datacursormode supported in appdesigner (R2017b)

The following code will not start datacursormode on my 3d scatter plot.
 dcm_obj = datacursormode(app.wp_wearmap_plot);
 set(dcm_obj,'DisplayStyle','datatip',...
            'SnapToDataVertex','on','Enable','on');
I'm guessing this maybe unsupported at this moment. Is there any work arounds on this? I'm trying to store xyz point data by using the cursors location selection.

Unfortunately, as it can be read on the "Graphics Support in App Designer" help page, UI figures do not support printing, nor do they support mouse or keyboard interactions (and App Designer uses UI fiugres). The topic is discussed under this thread as well: http://bit.ly/2VeznbV
