MATLAB: Install codec : xvid or encode in divx

Hello everybody,

I need to use PTVLab ( matlab toolbox) in PTVLab, when i run a video (.avi), mathlab said me

"Please download and install the necessary video CODECS: FMP4 or encode in divx:"

or "Please download and install the necessary video CODECS: xvid or encode in divx:"

However all my video are in AVI format and the others formats doesn't works

When i try to encode in divx, Matlab said me : "Please download and install the necessary video CODECS: DX50 or encode in divx:"

I try to install the last version of xvid codec, i update all drivers (with driver booster free) but nothing more.

If you have any ideas don't hesitate to tell me,

The problem of garbled image display is related to the codec being employed. MATLAB does not have control over which codec is used for the decoding. We simply let windows choose the most appropriate codec for us.

DivX® 5.0 Codec causes users to see garbled images when loading AVI files in MATLAB using MMREADER function. There are several fixes and updates to DivX® Codecs and it is important to install the latest codec to prevent undesirable results. The latest updates of this third party codec can be found at:

Since we do not have a control on which codec is being employed, it is also important to make sure that the previous versions of DivX® Codecs are completely uninstalled and removed from the system and registry. This ensures that the older versions are not called.

The AVIREAD function can be employed instead of MMREADER as a possible work-around:

Use aviinfo() or mmfileinfo() or VideoReader.get() to examine the properties of the AVI file.

It could be that the AVI file uses a codec that you do not have installed. That happens especially for the Indeo5 codec, which is not installed by default in Windows 7, and it is not possible to get a version of the Indeo5 codec that works with a 64 bit version of MATLAB.
