MATLAB: Include “a” character in a wordcloud

I am just trying to plot a simple wordcloud of grades which has a grade string, say,

grade='DBBBDBEFBFFASBCBABCCSBCAABBCBACDBFDBAFDAACAFAACABBFABCBAACF'

when I plot it using,

>>wordcloud(grade)

the function removes all Grade A information. How do I include the grade A in the plot?

Bear in mind that this is with base matlab. The text analytics toolbox, which I don't have, may have some better ways of doing what you want.

I'm simply converting your char array into a categorical array. It doesn't look like wordcloud does any filtering on categorical arrays:

grade='DBBBDBEFBFFASBCBABCCSBCAABBCBACDBFDBAFDAACAFAACABBFABCBAACF'
wordcloud(categorical(cellstr(grade')))

displays

Do you have the Text Analytics Toolbox?

Assuming you do not, and you don't have a count of the words, the syntax you need to use is

wordcloud(C)

I found this line of the documentation helpful:

wordcloud(C) creates a word cloud chart from the unique elements of categorical array C with sizes corresponding to their frequency counts. If you have Text Analytics Toolbox™, then C can be a string array, character vector, or a cell array of character vectors.

Split the string and turn it into categoricals.

s = 'hello test 123 hello';
S=split(s)
C=categorical(S)
wordcloud(C)

MATLAB: Maximum number of characters of the latex interpreter

According to this section of the documentation:

http://www.mathworks.com/help/techdoc/ref/text_props.html,

there is a maximum of string size of 1200 characters for the LaTeX interpreter, and multiline strings reduce the limit (by about 10 characters per line).
