MATLAB: Importing excel data as a table in MATLAB 2013a

When I use the import tool, I don't see the option of import as a table. What can i do to fix this?

Tables were not introduced until R2013b. This is a good reason for you to finally modernize your version of MATLAB to the latest version.

'xlsread' returns 3 outputs -

[numOnly, textOnly, rawDataInCellArray] = xlsread(xlFile);

If you need the data in only cell array format, use the below style :

[~, ~, mydata] = xlsread(xlfile);
