MATLAB: Image as background in GUIDE

Hello guys,

I'm trying to place an image as a background while working in GUIDE. I'm working with a schematic and I need to place Buttons and Text Boxes on the schematic at certain spots. How would I go about importing the image into GUIDE? The only thing I found was to have an image show after the GUI is run. I need the image to show while I'm creating the GUI in GUIDE in order to see where I'm placing these buttons. Thanks!

selectedItem = get(popupmenu3.handles,'value');
img=imread('flower.jpg');
img1=imread('balloon.jpg');
%average
e=fspecial('average',[33])
axes(handles.axes2);

  A=imfilter(img,e);
  imshow(A);
elseif selectedItem == 2

Kasun - look closely at your code. You are creating a figure each time you load a new image

 figure(handles.figure1), imshow(omg);

Rather than doing this, I think it would be better to add an axes to your GUI (which is easy since you have used GUIDE) and show the image on that axes. If we assume that the handle to this object is named axes1, then your above code would be replaced with

 imshow(img, 'Parent', handles.axes1);

Try the above and see what happens!
