MATLAB: How to sort values and strings

sort

I have a data set with several variables, their sizes are all (10000, 1), i.e., 10000 rows and 1 column.

Stations are strings, but depths and other variables are numerical values. I want to sort all of them according to depth. How should I achieve this?

depth=[1;3;2]
height=[3;1;2]
v=[Stations num2cell([depth height])]
sortrows(v,2)  % depth is in the second column

Mehdi, if you mean that you want to make variables Matrix1, Matrix2 etc. inside a loop, then I agree completely with Walter and Jan - it's just a bad idea.

However, if you mean that you want to print "Matrix 1", "Matrix 2" etc. then that's OK, and you could do something like this:

for k = 1:4
    fprintf('Matrix %d = \n', k);
    disp(rand(2));   % the matrix you want to print
end
