MATLAB: How to save non-dicom images (like tiff, bmp, raw files) as dicom images

I have .bmp files which I want to save as dicom files. I tried using 'dicomwrite' command, but it didn't work. It seems the code just support dicom format files. Is that the case or could this be possible to save and view those .bmp files as dicom. Please support me with this.

I don't know a lot about DICOM images, but a possibility is to use

 dicomread
 imresize
 dicomwrite

in that order.

MATLAB: Take CT# from from each pixel in CT DICOM image

Use dicomread() to read in the image. The area of the pixel in real world coordinates (microns) will be in the header. The CT values of the pixels are the image itself.
