MATLAB: How to return a vector output for a vector input for a custom made function

Hi, I know from experience that some Matlab functions like cos will also return a vector if it's input is a vector, i.e. cos(vector) is a vector. Is it possible to do the same with a custom function I've written myself? I am asking this because I want to avoid writing for loops because in Matlab for loops take a long time to execute.

  y = x;
end

This returns the vector y, given input vector x. WTP?

I solved the problem. Here's the solution:

Reshape and combine X and Y into one row vector.
Call symfun with the row vector as the second input to create the function f.

Once we have the function f, we can take its jacobian with the original vectors X and Y to produce another symbolic function.

When calling f, to take its Jacobian for instance:

Put all of the inputs into a row vector.
use num2cell to convert the row vector into a cell array, called "symbolic_input"
Call f: f(symbolic_input{:})
