MATLAB: How to remove a row from a Table in the GUI

Hey everybody,

I try to remove a row from the iutable

I wrote the code to add as following :

% — Executes on button press in add. function add_Callback(hObject, eventdata, handles) data = get(handles.uitable1, 'data'); data(end+1,:) = 0; set(handles.uitable1, 'data', data)

and from it, i derived the code to remove:

function remove_Callback(hObject, eventdata, handles) data = get(handles.uitable2, 'data'); data(end-1,:)= 0; set(handles.uitable2, 'data', data)

I then get the following error statment:

what I am doing wrong here ?

I initialize the Tables values wih a zero matrix a=zeros(3,4). do I need first to delete the last line of a ?

and

data(end-1,:)= 0;

is not the same as

data(end-1,:)= [];

only the latter removes the penultimate line to make it a 2x4 matrix, the first statement will put it to zero which will not show since all your values are zero in this case

and as Henric said, uitable2 does not exist, you need to use the handle to uitable1

You have coded the add callback under the assumption that when you fetch the data from the uitable that you will get back a numeric matrix. Numeric matrices are one of the two ways that you can store the data for a uitable, with the other way being cell array (one cell entry for each table entry). You need to know which way your empty table has been initialized, [] or {}. Or you could find out which one you currently have and make the conversion:

data = get(handles.uitable1, 'data');
if iscell(data); data = cell2mat(data); end
data(end+1,:) = 0;
set(handles.uitable1, 'data', data);

Your remove button is responding and doing what you programmed it to do. You have

data = get(handles.uitable1, 'data');
data(end-1,:);
set(handles.uitable1, 'data', data);

The second line of that,

data(end-1,:);

requests that the data in the second-last row be fetched into the current expression. And then the semi-colon at the end of the line says to do nothing with the current expression: if there were no semi-colon there then the result would be to display the current expression. Notice that you do not change your data before storing it back. Hint:

data(K,:) = [];   %delete row K

Or is it the order of operations? Does the _OpeningFcn get called before the _CreateFcn (for each control), or is it the other way around?

I think that the create functions get called before the opening function, and so the handles structure will be empty at that point. Note the general comment for the OpeningFcn

 % --- Executes just before untitled is made visible.

In fact, if you put breakpoints in the create functions and the opening function, then you should observe that the latter get called before the former.

Since you just want to update your controls with data that is initialized in the opening function, then just do so from there as

 % --- Executes just before ZenKinematics is made visible.
 function ZenKinematics_OpeningFcn(hObject, eventdata, handles, varargin)
 handles = guidata(hObject);
 % update with the angle names
 handles.anglenames = {'Knee','Ankle','Hip'};
 % save the changes to the handles structure
 guidata(hObject,handles);
 % update the controls
 set(handles.graphpop1,'String',handles.anglenames);
 % uiwait(hObject);

And just remove the equivalent set from the graphpop1 create function and you should be good to go.

I commented out the uiwait in your above code as I don't think that it was in the correct place (before the call to guidata) and am not sure what it's intent is.
