MATLAB: How to open previously saved MATLAB figures into separate figure windows

Until about an hour ago, every time I opened up MATLAB figures (.fig) I had previously saved, they would open in their own figure window numbered accordingly. I recently had to edit some of the axis properties on some of my figures and now when I open saved figures they all open in a "figures" window with separate tabs for each figure.

I think I must have accidentally changed one of my settings, but I'm not sure how to change it back.

You accidentally docked your figures. In the upper right hand corner of the place with the figures in tabs, look for a downward-pointing triangle. Click on that and you can ask to undock the figure.

Note: if you ask to undock all the figures then you end up with a separate tab window. The Desktop menu there allows undocking one figure at a time.

MATLAB: Does MATLAB open the figure without the camera toolbar

Currently, there is no feature in MATLAB that will let you open a saved figure such that the camera toolbar is still active.

As a workaround, you can use the CAMERATOOLBAR function to create a new camera toolbar after loading your saved Figure in MATLAB. To create a camera toolbar in the figure window, just type the following at the MATLAB command prompt:

cameratoolbar
