MATLAB: How to manipulate data between two numbers

I have multiple vectors and numbers in all of them lie between 0 and 1, I want to do 'normalize' the data such that the maximum point in each vector now definitely touches 1 and minimum point definitely touches 0 and numbers in between gets manipulated accordingly.

How can I do this?

z=interp1([min(x) max(x)],[0 1],x);
b=polyfit([min(x) max(x)],[0 1],1);
z=polyval(x);

Strictly speaking, this should do it:

   >> a = [1 0 0 0 1 0 1 1];
   >> b = 10*a(1:2:end) + a(2:2:end)
   b =
       10     0    10    11

Or, if you've got a string of 1's and 0's:

   >> a = '10001011';
   >> arrayfun(@(i)a(i:i+1),1:2:length(a),'uniformoutput',false)
   ans = 
       '10'    '00'    '01'    '11'

Note: both of these solutions assume that you have an even number of digits. They'll croak if you pass in an odd number of digits.

I do not see why you need bsxfun for this. If X is your signal, this statement restricts X between -1 and 1

X = [0.5 1 2 -2 -1 -0.5 0]
OUT = min(max(X,-1),1)

You can create an (anonymous) function for this, if you need it a lot.

minmax = @(x,a,b) max(min(x,a),b) % restricts input X between a and b
