MATLAB: How to import solid works assembly file in xml simmechanics second generation.

Hello i am facing the import problem of solid work assembly file to 'simmechanics second generation' file in to my matlab worksapace. it shows error, however simmechanics first generation xml file is working. The problem which i have faced is attached below. Please give suggestion regarding this.

For second generation, use the smimport function (documentation here ). mech_import works only for first generation.

I have found the issue. My Own Incompetence. Using the command:

mech_import

Does not work for some reason that have not found. However if I use the command:

smimport

Not the command that I thought it was:

simport

After correcting this I was able to import the XML file generating the needed block diagram.

Oh well.

For each rigid part in SolidWorks, SimMechanics Link generates an STL file. You also get an XML file which says how the STL files are connected together (rigid transforms/joints) and what the properties (color, mass, etc.) are.

So, that file name in the Solid block, nameofpart.STL, contains all the points and connections that make up the shape of your object.

It's unfortunately not as easy as "length, width, and height" since the STL mesh can represent much more complicated shapes. I suppose, for a rough estimate, you could -- for example -- find the minimum and maximum X coordinates of all the vertices in that file and call that the "length".
