MATLAB: How to generate white guassian noise, given standard deviation.

Hi all, With due respect, I wanna ask that if i am given standard deviation only, what i should do to generate white Gaussian noise. And I want to add this noise in a 1D data. Thanks in anticipation 🙂 take care

It is not clear what do you mean by variable variance. If you want a bunch of random numbers all with the same variance, but you want to be able to specify the variance sigma2:

randn(1, 0, sigma2);

If you want a set of random variable, with each coming from a distribution with a different sgima

sigma.*randn(size(sigma));

MATLAB: Simple question about Standard Deviation.

By default, it will give the sample standard deviation. Call it as

std(x,1)

to get the population. That is explained in the documentation for std, in the section describing the input argument weight.
