MATLAB: How to delete a plot in UIAxes

I'm using a button as a tool to plot one linear fit over a curve and I would like to replace the plot of the fit whenever I push the button again. I'm not quite sure how to use the delete command in this case. Any help is appreciated 🙂

You could store the handle to the fitted line in the UserData of the figure and then retrieve it every time the button is hit and use it to replace the YData of the line with the new fitted YData (this "replaces" the old line). Greetings, David

Ideally you would save the inner position of the axis, do the plotting, and then restore the inner axis position. But the 'InnerPosition' property of axes in app designer is read-only (why!?? who knows). So here's a work around.

In your plotting function,

Before plotting, save the original read-only 'InnerPosition' values
Do your plotting
Calculate the difference between the new inner position and old inner position
Change the 'Position' value so that the inner position matches what it used to be.

axInnerPos = app.UIAxes.InnerPosition;                  %1) store original inner position of axis
% plot()                                                %2) do your plotting, etc.
innerPosDiff = axInnerPos - app.UIAxes.InnerPosition;   %3) calculate difference between original and current inner ax pos.
app.UIAxes.Position = app.UIAxes.Position + innerPosDiff; %4) change the 'position' so inner position matches original values

A GUI in Matlab is nothing special. You need to have working code first, and then put that into a GUI. If you have trouble with the first step, the second not relevant yet.

Your tags sugest that you're planning to use GUIDE. Especially if you're creating a GUI from scratch I would strongly advise you to not use GUIDE. It is slated to be discontinued and it can be complex to create anything that isn't simple.
