MATLAB: How to delete a BLDC motor driver block of which the library link has been broken

In an attempt to modify the Brushless DC Motor Drive block in simulink, I copied it to my model and then broke the library link to make changes. I did this because I only use it in one model, so I figured the library link is not important. Running the model is however not possible anymore without the library link because the callbacks don't work anymore. I was able to, in another attempt, modify the BLDC motor drive block by making a custom library, but I cannot delete the block with the broken library link anymore because of following error:

–> Error evaluating 'DeleteFcn' callback of SubSystem block …[model path]

–> SubSystem block does not have a parameter named "driveType"

How can I delete this block? It is giving errors when I want to run the model.

Hello Jorrit,

As I understand, you have a Brushless DC Motor Drive block that you have modified and broken the library link to on purpose. However, now you are trying to delete the block but it is giving an error.

The reason for this error is that in the Brushless DC Motor Drive block there is a "DeleteFcn" callback which tries to get a block parameter that no longer exists (since you modified). To delete this block you will first need to delete the contents of the "DeleteFcn" callback fro the Brushless DC Motor Drive block. You can get to callbacks by right clicking on the block and selecting "Properties.." and then selecting the tab "Callbacks".

This enhancement has been incorporated in Release 2010a (R2010a).

For previous product releases, the ability to use a DC permanent magnet motor block directly from a library is not available in SimPowerSystems.

To work around this issue:

You can use and modify the DC machine block to model a DC motor with permanent magnets. You can copy a DC Machine block (DC motor) in a new model, and then break the link to the library.

Note that the motor has two sets of electrical terminals: the armature (A+ A-) and the field armature (F+ F-). For the case of a permanent magnet DC motor, the field armature does not exist. Look under the mask of the block, note the Rf Lf and the iF current measurement block. In a permanent magnet model, the magnets provide a constant 'if' current to the model. Remove the F+ and F- terminals and all the blocks between them, then use a Constant block to feed the mechanical input 'if'. The constant value depends on the type of magnet used in the DC motor. The knowledge about the constant value and the type of magnet used will have to be obtained from the manufacturer sheet of the machine.

It could be because executing StopFcn is also part of simulation. And you can not modify the library link of a block during the simulation process.

Simulation Started --> Execution --> Simulation stopped --> Save Workspace data --> Execute StopFcn --> Simulation finished.

You can modify the links only after simulation is finished.

You can restore the library in save or close callback functions.
