MATLAB: How to copy the content of a model to another model without closing the current model

Hello,

i want to take back up of the current model without closing

save_system('model','new_model') closes the model "model".

is there any way to copy the content of the simulink model ?

save_system() and then copyfile()
Simulink autosave preference
Simulink.BlockDiagram.copyContentsToSubsystem(), Simulink.SubSystem.copyContentsToBlockDiagram()

Here is the small example to copy contents from one model to a subsystem of other model.

open_system('vdp');
new_system('new_model_with_vdp')
open_system('new_model_with_vdp');
add_block('built-in/Subsystem', 'new_model_with_vdp/vdp_subsystem')
Simulink.BlockDiagram.copyContentsToSubsystem...
('vdp', 'new_model_with_vdp/vdp_subsystem')

If you have RealTime workshop license then there are 2 ways of protecting you your model-

You can genearte a s-function from the model, compile the s-function to mex file and deliver only mex-file. Mex file can be used with s-function block in model. See Generated S-Function>and <http://www.mathworks.com/support/solutions/en/data/1-1BUQG/index.html?solution=1-1BUQG
You can generate a protected model (.mdlp) through model rerencing. See Protecting Referenced Models
