MATLAB: How to Change Marker Size in a .fig MATLAB File

Hello dear all

I want to know how to change the marker size for a .fig file if that is possible. Note that I only have the .fig file and I don't have access to the X and Y datapoints to use the command scatter(X,Y, 'MarkerSize',10). Is there any way to change the marker size/color by using the command window, or the figure configuration settings?

Yes, you can use the property inspector.

Open the fig file in MATLAB
Click on a marker to select them
Open the property inspector
Expand the Markers section and modify the value in the MarkerSize field.

The size of scatter objects are in point units where 1 point equals 1/72 inch.

Plot a single point and look at it's SizeData.

h = scatter3(0,0,0); 
h.SizeData
% ans =
%     36

so, the default size is 36/72 or 1/2 inch.

I don't think it's possible to edit just a couple points in a series using the property inspector.

There is a way to do this programmatically without rewriting/rerunning your code.

Open your figure

Get a handle to your scatter plot

h = findobj(gca,'Type','Scatter');

Now extract the current X, Y data

X = h.XData;
Y = h.YData;

Now that you have the data, it's just a simple matter of manipulating it.

xCross = X([2 end]);
yCross = Y([2 end]);
h.XData([2 end]) = [];
h.YData([2 end]) = [];
hold on
plot(xCross,yCross,'kx','MarkerSize',10)
