MATLAB: How to adjust the Chapter title font size using MATLAB Report Generator R2010b (3.9)

I created a report to generate a PDF and created a stylesheet ot go with it.

I noticed that my generated report has a Chapter title size that is very big.

I would like to be able to modify the font size. Which attribute should I use to achieve this.

The ability to change the title font size from within the MATLAB Report Generator R2010b (3.9) GUI is not available.

As a workaround, open the stylesheet (RGS) file in a text editor and add the following lines just before </xsl_code>.

     <xsl:template match="title" mode="chapter.titlepage.recto.auto.mode">
        <fo:block xmlns:fo="<http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format"> xsl:use-attribute-sets="chapter.titlepage.recto.style" font-size="24pt" font-weight="bold">
           <xsl:call-template name="component.title">
              <xsl:with-param name="node" select="ancestor-or-self::chapter[1]"/>
           </xsl:call-template>
        </fo:block>
     </xsl:template>

Modify the "font-size" parameter value at on the second line as needed, the code above uses "24pt".

Execute the "rptconvert -clearcache" on the MATLAB command prompt after every modfication that is made to the stylesheet file to ensure that the changes take effect in the generated report.

Note: this workaround could only work with PDF file. There is no workaround for Word file.

To change the full chapter title including the "Chapter X" and the Title:

1. Save a default Chapter template by executing the following line of code:

>> template = mlreportgen.report.Chapter.createTemplate('customChapterStyle.pdftx','pdf')

2. Unzip the PDFTX-file to make edits:

>> unzipTemplate('customChapterStyle.pdftx')

3. In the unzipped "customChapterStyle" folder, open the stylesheet "root.css":

4. Make edits as desired and then save the css file. For example:

h1.SectionTitle1, p.SectionTitle1 {
    font-family: 'Times New Roman';
    font-size: 40pt;
    margin-top: 25pt;
    font-weight:bold;
    margin-bottom: 10pt;
    color: red;
    white-space: pre;
    -fo-keep-with-next.within-page: always;
}

5. Rezip the PDFTX by executing the following code:

>> zipTemplate('customChapterStyle.pdftx')

6. Go to the script creating the Report and find where the chapter is being created. Set the chapter property of TemplateSrc to the proper file path:

>> ch1 = Chapter
>> ch1.TemplateSrc = 'customChapterStyle.pdftx'

The above changes the style of the full title: Chapter X. Title Text

To remove the component "Chapter X." and just include the Title Text:

>> ch1. Numbered = false;

To include the "Chapter X", but give the Title Text a different font:

1. Make the chapter title a mlreportgen.dom.Text object:

>> ch1title = Text('Change Chapter Title Font');

2. Define the properties of the Text object:

>> fontFamily = FontFamily('Arial');
>> fontSizeObj = FontSize('25px');
>> ch1title.Style = {fontFamily, fontSizeObj};
>> ch1title.Color = 'blue';

MATLAB: How to adjust the left indent of the “Table of Contents” Title line using MATLAB Report Generator R2010b (3.9)

The indentation of the title of the "table of contents" can be modified using the "start-indent" attribute within the "TOC Margin Properties" set in MATLAB Report Generator R2010b (3.9).

These are the steps to follow to include the "Start-Indent" attribute to the "TOC Margin Properties" property set:

1) Open the stylesheet RGS file using a text editor.

2) Find the following code:

              <xsl_code>

3) Include the following lines of code below after the above line

<xsl:template name="table.of.contents.titlepage.recto">
             <fo:block xmlns:fo="<http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format"> xsl:use-attribute-sets="table.of.contents.titlepage.recto.style" space-before.minimum="1em" space-before.optimum="1.5em" space-before.maximum="2em" space-after="0.5em" font-size="17.28pt" font-weight="bold" font-family="{$title.fontset}">
                 <xsl:call-template name="gentext">
                     <xsl:with-param name="key" select="'TableofContents'"/>
                 </xsl:call-template>
             </fo:block>
         </xsl:template>
           <xsl:attribute-set name="toc.margin.properties">
              <xsl:attribute name="start-indent">
                 <xsl:value-of select="'0in'"/>
              </xsl:attribute> 
           </xsl:attribute-set>

The 0in in the third line can be modified to required indentation of the title.

4) Save the stylesheet file.

5) Execute the following on the MATLAB command prompt:

          rptconvert -clearcache

6) Generate the report using this modified stylesheet.
