MATLAB: GUI, Timer/Counter

Hello, I was wondering if there was anyway to add a timer of some sort to a GUI? I would like to have a timer start when the GUI is started and continue counting so the user is able to see the amount of time elapsed.

By default, the timer function callbacks pass the timer object as the first argument, and the event data associated with the callback as the second argument. Therefore, you always have access to the timer object from within its callback.
