MATLAB: Function of the toolbar-cross

closing functionx-button

Hey everyone, does anyone know how/where to edit a GUI's closing function (if there even is one)? I'm not talking about commands like close but the X-button in the top right corner of the window. By hitting the X-button I want my GUI to call a certain function. Any ideas?

This does execute the CloseRequestFcn of the figure:

function exampleCloseReq
figure('CloseRequestFcn',@closeme)
function closeme(src,evt);
disp('I''m closing');
delete(src)

Save this as exampleCloseReq.m

Hmmm. This seems to happen if the 'WindowStyle' is 'Modal':

figure('windowstyle','modal')

Apparently setting the CloseRequestFcn to delete(src) fixes it:

figure('windowstyle','modal','closerequestfcn',@(src,evt)delete(src))

MATLAB: Need help with the function

Function definitions are not allowed inside the Command Window or insider an M-script file, but only inside a function-M-file. You can recognize them by the first word "function".

The functions are defined either as sub-functions, after the main function has finished, or as nested function inside another function.

function Out = MainFunction(In)
disp('I''m the main function');
Nested;
SubFunction;
Nested;
    function Nested
      disp('I''m nested'');
    end
  end
function SubFunction
disp('I''m the sub function');
end

If you use nested function or any function is closed by end, all functions in an M-file must be closed by a trailing end.
