MATLAB: Extacting brain from MR image

Sir, Our project is extracting brain from MR image.We have done upto the generation histogram of foreground(head).After that we have to draw a guassian function for 80% area of that histogram and for 20% another guassian.This is done to compare that guassian and histogram to get threshold.How we have to calculate 80% area and how to proceed further?Kindly help in the same.I have attached our original gray scale image and head histogram.

Since you can't get the brain alone isolated simply by thresholding, try imfreehand(). Demo is attached.
