MATLAB: Does the phase response not appear in the print preview panel when using FDATool in Signal Processing Toolbox 6.2.1(R14SP1)

This behavior occurs only in Japanese environment.

When "Magnitude and phase responses" is displayed in the FDATool analysis section, if I select "File -> Print Preview", the magnitude response is displayed but the phase response is not. See the attached file (fda_preview.GIF) for a screenshot.

Additionally, if I try to print this section, only the magnitude response is printed.

Reproduction Steps:

1. Set machine language to Japanese on PC Windows XP.

2. Start MATLAB.

3. Launch FDATool using the FDATOOL command.

4. Click the "Design Filter" button.

5. In FDATool click on the "Magnitude and phase responses" button.

6. From the File menu select Print Preview.

This bug has been fixed in Release 14 Service Pack 2 (R14SP2). For previous releases, read below for any possible workarounds:

We have verified that there is a bug in Signal Processing Toolbox 6.2.1 (R14SP1) when "Print Preview" is used in FDATool in Japanese environment.

There are currently no known workarounds.

Additional information has been incorporated into the documentation in Release 2009a (R2009a).

For previous releases, to work around this issue, you can use the FILTER function as follows:

1. Generate a MATLAB file for the filter from the Generate MATLAB file option in the File menu : File --> Generate MATLAB file

2. Save the MATLAB file as filterfile.m or any other valid name of your choice.

3. Use the FILTER command as follows:

CustomFilter= filterfile
plot(filter(CustomFilter, [zeros(1,100) ones(1,100)]))    % Computes and plots step response

We have verified that there is a bug in the Control Systems Toolbox 6.1 (R14SP1) in the way that Bode plots are printed from the LTI Viewer.

To work around this issue, try using the following code:

set(0,'showHiddenHandles','on');

Then select the LTI Viewer to make it the current figure and enter the following command to send the window to the printer:

print
