MATLAB: Do I receive an error while opening SimMechanics 2.6 (R2007a)

mblibv1.mdlphysmodsimmechanicsSimscapessc_checklicense

I have SimMechanics installed on my machine but I do not see it in the usual Simulink library browser. Also, when I try to open SimMechanics via 'start -> simulink -> simmechanics -> open block library', I receive an error message 'The specified module could not be found' along with the following error:
Warning: mblibv1.mdl, line 6: Error evaluating 'PreLoadFcn' callback of block_diagram 'mblibv1'. Undefined function or method 'ssc_checklicense' for input arguments of type 'logical'.

This error occurs due to unavailability of Simscape in the installed version of MATLAB 7.4 (R2007a). Note that Simscape is a required feature for running SimMechanics 2.6 (R2007a).
Hence, to resolve this issue, uninstall MATLAB 7.4 (R2007a) on your machine and then re-install it along with Simscape.
