MATLAB: Do I receive a “Error unpacking application” message executing Simulink Real-Time in Standalone Mode with a USB boot in MATLAB R2017b

When I attempt to load my application onto a target using USB boot, I get an "Error unpacking application". When I plug my USB drive onto a USB 2.0 port things work fine.

However, when something else is plugged into a USB 3.0 port, the application fails. What could be causing the issue?

The issue may occur due to incorrect USB settings in BIOS. Please attempt to disable the USB 3.0 in the BIOS, and not plug in any devices into these ports. There are known instances of USB 3.0 causing issues in the SLRT kernel.

This error might occur if you have a config.sys file which is blocking out the memory. To workaround the issue, rename the config.sys file to some other name and reboot the Target PC.

1) Open Simulink Real-Time Explorer and uncheck the option "USB Support" in Target Properties -> Target settings.

2) Disable USB ports in the BIOS of the target computer.

DOS must be installed on the USB drive. Then the following SLRT files should be copied to the root of the drive:

autoexec.bat
xpcboot.com
slrtkrnl.rtb
ex_slrt_rt_osc.mldatx
