MATLAB: Do I get errors when using the MATLAB VEX Companion app in R2018b

I get the following error after installing the VEX Companion app in MATLAB R2018b and trying to open it from the app menu.

Undefined variable "vexapp" or class "vexapp.getAdditionalExampleCell".

Error in VEXCompanion/getAdditionalExamplesCell (line 273) additionalExamples = vexapp.getAdditionalExampleCell;

This is a known issue with version 16.2.2.0 of the VEX Companion app when installed in MATLAB 2018b. In order to resolve the issue execute the following commands in the MATLAB command prompt or run the attached file:

>>vexpath=which('VEXCompanion','-all');
>>vexpath=replace(vexpath,'VEXCompanion.m','');
>>vexpath=fullfile(vexpath,'resources');
>>addpath(vexpath{1});
>>savepath

If you are using version R2019a of the VEX V5 support package you can use the files attached to this post to add support for the ultrasonic, shaft encoder and vision sensors.Follow the instructions below to install the updated library and note that this additions do not make part of the current Simulink support.

1. Install the latest version of the Simulink Coder Support for VEX V5 Robot Brain

2. Find the installation folder of the support package using the following MATLAB command:

>> matlabshared.supportpkg.getSupportPackageRoot

3. Close MATLAB

4. Navigate to the installation directory received from the command above \toolbox\target\supportpackages, and delete and replace the "vexcommon" and "vexv5" folders with the ones attached to this post.

5. Navigate to the installation directory received from the command above \resources, and delete and replace the "vexv5" folder with the one attached to this post.

6. Restart MATLAB

7. Turn off the Simulink preference to not load models created in newer versions. MATLAB>Preferences>Simulink Preferences>Model File>Do not load models created with newer versions of SImulink.

8. Open the VEX V5 Simulink library using the following command to check for new blocks.

>>vexv5lib

MATLAB: Do I receive errors related to “getFileInfoForToolstrip” or “getSupportPackageUpdates” when opening MATLAB

The following workarounds should help resolve the issue:

1) Try recreating the path definition file for your installation. Open MATLAB and then enter the following three commands, one after the other, into the command window:

>> rehash toolboxcache
>> restoredefaultpath
>> savepath

Then, restart MATLAB.

2) Re-activate MATLAB by executing 'activate_matlab.exe' (on Windows) or 'activate_matlab.sh' (on Linux). More information about the location of these files and activating MATLAB is available at:
