MATLAB: Do I get an error message that the activation script is not available

MATLAB

The MATLAB installer has finished, but instead of activation, I get an error message similar to:
sh: /sw/pkgs/matlab_r2008a/bin/activate_matlab.sh: No such file or directory
How do I activate my MATLAB installation?

This error indicates that MATLAB product was not installed. The scripts to activate MATLAB are included in the installation of MATLAB, so if MATLAB is not installed, these scripts will not be installed. Generally this occurs if your installation files or passcodes only allow for installation of a toolbox or blockset.
To correct this, rerun the installer and be sure MATLAB is selected for installation. If you are installing from downloads, make sure that you have downloaded the MATLAB product files.
