MATLAB: Do I get a Memory Fault Coredump when I install MATLAB on a UNIX or Linux machine

MATLAB

Here are the steps that I have been doing:
1) Move my license.dat file into /usr/local/matlab5
2) Enter: /CDROM/install
3) A window for MATLAB installation appears titled : "Begin Product Installation"
4) I press OK and another window pops up titled: "License Agreement"
5) I press OK and it is replaced by a window titled: "MATLAB Root Directly"
In it is show the following path: "/usr/local/matlab5"
6) I press OK and get the following message:
/CDROM/install[991]: 5524 Memory fault(coredump)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
An error status was returned by the program 'xsetup',
the X Window System version of 'install'. The following
messages were written to standard error:
Attempt to fix the problem and try again. If X is not available
or 'xsetup' cannot be made to work then try the terminal
version of 'install' using the command:
install* -t or INSTALL* -t
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry! Setup aborted . . .
7) If I try it with "install -t", I get the same thing.
8) If I try it with "install -t -debug", I also get the same error, but after it has loaded the products, created the "etc" directory and moved the license.dat to that directory.

The error message you received "5524 Memory fault (coredump)" can occur if the license file you are using is too large. Please try installing MATLAB using the license file sent to you by MathWorks.
A similar error can also occur if the TMW_Archive line of the license.dat file is corrupted.
