MATLAB: Demapp “IQ array of length 6” to “Bits array of length 12”

I have this complex array (1+j,1-j…….), whose length is 6 and i need to make a bits array of 12 length, like,

1+j = 0 0,

-1-j = 1 1

-1+j = 1 0

1-j = 0 1

How about this?

x = [1+j; -1-j; -1+j; 1-j];
result = [real(x)<0, imag(x)<0];

It turns a column vector of imaginary numbers into a two-column array with the results.

Your input variable is a cell array. Each string is an element in that cell array and so length reports 2, because you have 2 elements. If you do length(string(1)) then you still try to access the cell element itself rather than its content. However, if you do length(string{1}) then this should actually report the length of the first string, because using curly bracket you can access the content of a cell. The reason what you tried failed is that the rows are all different lengths.

If you wanted to do

  0 array 0 0
  0 0 array 0
  0 0 0 array

then you could do something close to what you had:

  L = length(example_array);
  output = zeros(3, L+3);
  for l = 1 : 3
      output(l, l+1:l+L) = example_array;
  end
