MATLAB: Create Array Within Array

array

I need to create an array. Within that array, each cell of the array is a numerical array unto itself (i.e., child arrays within a parent array). I did it accidentally a few weeks ago, but cannot remember how. Would somebody be able to give me some guidance?

for K = 1 : 5
  A{K} = randi(6, 1, 10);

Simple with a loop, isn't it? I find "nCell" nicer than "num_cells_dxs" and avoid "l" as variable, because it is confused with 1 easily.

I assume the cellfun is nicer, but slower:

B = cellfun(@(c) c / length(c), xs, 'UniformOutput', false)

Array = a single variable (of any data type) that contains multiple content elements.

Cell array = a specific type of array in MATLAB; an array of class cell. This is the "everything" container in MATLAB -- it's essentially a meta data type, or a "container" data type. You can put anything inside a cell. A cell array, then, is a collection of cells (containers) containing whatever you want.

Subscripted elements = specific elements of an array, referenced by indexing into the array. E.g. x = [4,5,1,2,6] is an array of 5 doubles (double precision floating point numbers). Then x(2) is a subscripted reference to the second element of x (ie, 5).
