MATLAB: Convert cell array to an array, when the size of the cells is different

Hi all,

I have a cell array like this A={ [0 0 0 0] ; [1 1] ;[2] }

Is it possible to convert it in an array? I tried with cell2mat but I get an error because the sizes are different

Download padcat:

and use it like this:

>> M = padcat(A{:})
M =
     0     0     0     0
     1     1   NaN   NaN
     2   NaN   NaN   NaN

But note that doing numeric operations on the contents of a cell array is quite inefficient. You could be much better off putting numeric data into a numeric array, and then all numeric operations will be much simpler and much more efficient:

>> A = {2,5,0,10,0,[],22,0,13};
>> A(cellfun('isempty',A)) = {NaN};
>> V = [A{:}]
V =
     2     5     0    10     0   NaN    22     0    13
>> V>0
ans =
  1  1  0  1  0  0  1  0  1

MATLAB: Correlation between two row matrices

Like that, each value of "a" is correlated to each value of "b", but applying the formula of the correlation, the correlation of two single numbers is NaN. To compute the correlation correctly, traspose the input vectors

result  = corr(a', b');
