MATLAB: Clarifications on using dsolve

In this we see that the answer contains a constant namely C22. If I want to extract just the function part ie 'sin(x)' without adding any condition how do I do that ?? Please help.

Hirak, one simple way would be to add another initial condition (first derivative)

 f = dsolve('D2y + y = 0','Dy(0) = 1','y(0) = 0',x)
 f =
 sin(x)

One way would be to convert f to a string:

syms x y f
f=x
y=dsolve(['D2x=-' char(f)],'x(0)=1','Dx(0)=0')

Just from looking at the code, it looks as though you're dividing a scalar by a column vector:

y = data(:,1);
...
...x(3)/(y.^2)...

This will result in a matrix right-divide, which will return a row vector. But

x(2).*(y.^2)

will give a column vector. And adding these together, of course, gives our good friend "Matrix dimensions must agree".

I suspect you want to do ./ instead of /.
