MATLAB: Check if push button has an image on it or not

I have a bunch of push button where the user can put pictures on but how do I check if the push button has an image on it or not? Below is the code I thought would work but wouldn't. Any help is greatly appreciated.

if (handles.pushbutton1,'cdata',[]) || (handles.pushbutton2,'cdata',[])
     msgbox('There are still empty tiles')
end

You need to use get and isequal:

if isequal(get(handles.pushbutton1,'cdata'),[]) || isequal(get(handles.pushbutton2,'cdata'),[])
%...
end

You turn the buttons off when you click them. Do not put any code in the callback for either radio button. rgb_radiobutton_Callback and grayscale_radiobutton_Callback should not have any code in them. Or if they do, it's just to apply a colormap to the image, but not to "set()" the value of the radio button to 0. In your Showimages_pushbutton_Callback() you can check the value of the radio button and also set the colormap there. But do NOT set the value of your radio button in Showimages_pushbutton_Callback(). If you still have trouble, attach both the m-file and the .fig file.

You need to put a static text label on your GUI with a tag of txtValue (or whatever you want). Then in each callback where you want to change handles.value you need to have this:

handles.value = handles.value + 80; % Or whatever value you want.
handles.txtValue.String = sprintf('The Value now = %.1f', handle.value);
% Update handles structure
guidata(hObject, handles); % Not calling this was your problem.
