MATLAB: Character vector vs scalar string (size comparison).

can any one explain to me why the character vector 'matlab' have a smaller size than the scalar string "matlab" despite that they carry the same information, can any one explain this in simple answer, and can you give me links explain how matlab store data?

The string class is basically a fancy container class for character vectors. That is to say, inside every string element is a character vector, so bytes_string > bytes_character will always hold true for the "same" text.

You didn't post a screenshot, so I'm not sure what the problem is, but try this code:

fontSize = 14; % Whatever you want.
caption = sprintf('May 10, Run 6\nMN');
title(caption, 'FontSize', fontSize);
ylabel('Temperature (K)', 'FontSize', fontSize)
xlabel('\lambda (nm)', 'FontSize', fontSize)
zlabel('Counts', 'FontSize', fontSize)

When you create the string, such as caption like I did, put in a backslash n wherever you want it to go to the next line.

i=2:length(z),

That is 2:10

j=1:length(z),

That is 1:10, which is one element longer than i.

D(i-1)+D(j)

D(i-1) becomes D(1 to length(z)-1) which is D(1 : 9)

D(j) is D(1:length(z)) which is D(1:10)

The two items are different lengths and cannot be subtracted.
