MATLAB: Changing Array Elements with logical indexing

If I want to change all NaNs in an array A to zero, the following works:

A(isnan(A))=1000

As far as I see the isnan(A) returns nothing but an array of 1's and 0's.

But if I do the following:

B = [ 1 5 8]; B([0 0 1]) = 1000;

to replace the 8 with a 1000, I get an error – why?

B(logical([0 0 1])) = 1000;

Deleting elements of an array while you iterate over elements of an array is never going to work.

In any case, a loop is not needed for what you're doing:

a=[1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 nan nan nan nan nan];
b = a + 1
b(b < 4 | b > 6) = [];

idx = isnan(A) ;  % all NaN indices at once 
for i = 1:length(A)
      if isnan(A(i))
