MATLAB: Change value at axis

axis axes limit surf plot

Hi,

I have a 81×200 double which i want to plot with surf(). Since my matrix is 80 column wide the values at x axis is from 0 to 81. In practice, i would like the xaxis to say -40 to 40 but with the same surf plot just changing the values shown on x-axis in the plot.

If i use axis ([- 40 40 0 200 ]) i will get no values from -40 to 0…

Can someone please help me!

surf(X,Y,Z,C)

allows you to specify the x and y range of your data as the first two arguments (there is a version without the C too if you don't have colour data to explicitly define).

Try this:

x = 0:260;                                              % Create Data

y = rand(size(x));                                      % Create Data
figure(1)
plot(x, y)
xt = get(gca, 'XTick');                                 % 'XTick' Values
set(gca, 'XTick', xt, 'XTickLabel', xt/140)             % Relabel 'XTick' With 'XTickLabel' Values

The set call relabels the 'XTick' values with the same values divided by 140.

[uni,idu] = unique(x);
[cnt,idx] = hist(x,uni);

and the outputs:

cnt =
   5   2   6   6
idx =
    0   40  -40   80
