MATLAB: Can’t I install toolboxes to MATLAB if I rename the MATLAB application

MATLAB

I renamed my MATLAB application to just MATLAB.app (instead of MATLAB_R2010aSV.app) When I install toolboxes, the installer creates a new, unusable MATLAB_R2010aSV.app. There does not seem to be a way to merge these two. How do I install toolboxes if I rename the application?

The installer for MATLAB is hard coded to create the application name for MATLAB (ex: MATLAB_R2010a.app) on Mac OS X. It you rename the application, you must rename the application to the original name before installing new toolboxes. Once the toolbox install is complete, you may rename it back to MATLAB.
