MATLAB: Can’t I browse the Internet with the MATLAB Help Browser

Why can't I browse the Internet with the MATLAB Help Browser?
If I enter a web address in the address bar of the Help Browser, I can open that location. However, if I click a link on that page, I receive a Java exception or MATLAB exits completely.

This bug has been fixed for Release 14 (R14). For previous releases, please read below for any possible workarounds:
This is a bug in MATLAB 6.5 (R13) that has been forwarded to our development staff for further investigation.
There are currently no known workarounds.
