After downloading MATLAB R2016a on a Mac running OS X 10.12 Sierra, the application file (installer) has the prohibition symbol (a circle with a backslash) superimposed on its icon, and attempting to run the application results in an error message: 'You can’t open the application “InstallForMacOSX” because it is not supported on this type of Mac.'
All the updates from Apple are installed. What should I do if I cannot even install Matlab?
