MATLAB: Cannot I use the “WriteString” method, even though it is listed as the SystemIO interface in the MDD created in the Instrument Control Toolbox 2.8 (R2009a)

I am using the Agilent 34401A instrument and notice that the IVI-COM instrument driver displays the SystemIO interface under the System interfaces. However I am unable to use a method using this interface.

The Instrument Control Toolbox 2.8 (R2009a) does not support the SystemIO interface, even though it is listed under the System Interface.

There are no workarounds.

In order to be able to access your GPIB device using VISA you need to use a supported driver, which in this case would be:

National Instruments NI-VISA version 3.0 (or higher)

MATLAB: Is there a possibility to trigger multiple devices at once using Instrument Control Toolbox 2.8 (R2009a)

The ability to trigger multiple devices simultaneously using TRIGGER function is not available in Instrument Control Toolbox. The TRIGGER function accepts only 1 interface object as an input and not an array of interface objects.

However, if a time delay between triggering multiple devices is acceptable, then a separate TRIGGER command can be issued for each additional device to be triggered.
