MATLAB: Can spread value in the newpnn code be a vector

If yes, how do you input the spread? I received an error that the spread value is not scalar.

The spread must be scalar.

Create a cell array out of the character array:

c = cellstr(val);

Then, each cell element is a string that can be used:

c{1}

for example, is the first string. (Notice the use of curly brackets there.) You can read more about the use of cell array in the documentation.

You can use interp1. Try this:

   newRange = linspace(1, numel(corr), numel(env_energy));
   newCorr = interp1(1:numel(corr),corr,newRange);
