MATLAB: Can I use Model Referencing with the Open Watcom compiler (version 1.3) and Simulink 6.4 (R2006a)

Tech Note 1601 describes Simulink 6.4 (R2006a) and Simulink Accelerator 6.4 (R2006a) as compatible with the Open Watcom Compiler version 1.3, but adds that this configuration does not support Model Referencing. I would like to know if Model Referencing will be updated to be available with Open Watcom Compiler version 1.3.

This enhancement has been incorporated in Release 2009a (R2009a). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:

The Open Watcom Compiler when used with Model Referencing is not supported for earlier versions of Simulink.

When the value of the system environment variable PATH is empty or "nearly empty", the above error message may arise. Please ensure that the PATH variable at least contains

The above string does need to be present in the PATH variable as Windows uses this to look for existing DLLs.

This will give you the root directory of your Windows system files.

The ability to extract non-contiguous bits from a stored integer value is not available in Simulink 6.4 (R2006a)

To work around this issue, use the Embedded MATLAB Funtion block to create a function that will perform the task. The attached example model 'bit_ops_fin' demonstrates how this can be done using the Embedded MATLAB Function block.
