Can I use Data Translation DAQ devices with 64-bit MATLAB and Data Acquisition Toolbox?

For MATLAB R2016b and later, Data Translation DAQ devices can be used with the Session interface via a 3rd party custom adaptor ("dt") provided and supported by the vendor.

For installation instructions, refer to "Requirements" and "Installation" sections of the "Data Translation DAQ Adaptor for MATLAB" help file (pages 13-14 of "DTOLML.pdf" included in the "Data Translation Data Acquisition Toolbox.zip" attached to the above File Exchange entry.)

Note: For MATLAB releases R2015b and earlier, Data Translation DAQ devices could be used in DAQ Legacy interface (32-bit installations only) via the 3rd party custom adaptor ("dtol") provided by the vendor.

Beginning with Data Acquisition Toolbox 2.13 (R2008b), you will receive the following warning when using the Traditional NI-DAQ adaptor provided by the Toolbox:

Warning: Support for the National Instruments Traditional NI-DAQ driver will not be provided in future releases of Data Acquisition Toolbox. Instead, it will be available as a separate download. Consider upgrading to the NI-DAQmx version if it supports your hardware. See Solution 1-5LI9NF for details.

This warning has no immediate impact but is intended to advise you for future planning. Once this adaptor is available on MATLAB Central, MathWorks will not be making updates to the adaptor. The source code for the adaptor will be provided as part of the MATLAB Central download.

Note that there is no change for support of devices that use the NI-DAQmx driver and this change is limited to devices supported solely by the Traditional NI-DAQ driver.

You may disable this warning by typing:

There are several adaptors for popular vendors available in the toolbox and hardware support package add-ons such as National Instruments, Measurement Computing, Digilent Analog Discovery, which are listed on the hardware support page:

It is a good idea to directly contact the unsupported device manufacturer to request a custom adaptor for Data Acquisition Toolbox.

As of MATLAB R2018a it is possible to extend the hardware support to DAQ devices from other vendors, by creating a custom adaptor using the DAQ SDK.
