MATLAB: C shared library created with Compiler – compatibility between Linux distributions

Hello!

I need to deploy to several clients a shared library created with Matlab compiler. They are running the same type of hardware as me, but different Linux distributions (e.g. Ubuntu, Gentoo…).

Has somebody tried this before? Are there potential issues with this?

The version of the kernel, glibc(C-runtime library), libstdc++(C++ runtime library), binutils(for ld - the linker loader) can cause issues. The MCR ships the version of libstdc++.so that a compiled library needs in MCRROOT/sys/os/glnx86 or MCRROOT/sys/os/glnxa64. The system requirement page mentions minimum kernel and glibcx version:

This bug has been fixed in Release 2007a (R2007a). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:

There is an error within the documentation for MATLAB Compiler 4.5 (R2006b) Intel Mac beta within the reference section titled "UNIX Settings for Development and Testing" and "UNIX Paths for Runtime Deployment".

The settings listed under the subsection for Mac OS X are for Macs with PowerPC chips. For Intel Macs the settings should be as follows.

For Development and Testing on computers with MATLAB Compiler installed:

 setenv DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH 
 matlabroot/bin/maci: 
 matlabroot/sys/os/maci: 
 /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/JavaVM: 
 /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Libraries

What is your question?

Doesn't this explain the source of the problems already:

 You are using gcc version "4.5.2-8ubuntu4)". The version currently supported with MEX is "4.3.4"
