MATLAB: Boolean vector Size inconsistency in L5x files generated by PLC coder

Simulink PLC Coder

Why do boolean variables change dimensions in generated code for Rockwell Studio 5000: Routine targets?

Best Answer

The array dimension mismatch is expected.
Rockwell file formats require 'boolean' array values to have dimension size to round up to multiples of 32. As result, the array dimension (for initial value) is 32 even if a lower dimension is specified. In other words, this is required by Target IDE, otherwise, the code will not compile on the IDE.
As a workaround please use 'Rockwell Studio 5000: AOI' Target IDE in Configuration Parameters > PLC Code Generation. This will not implement the auto conversion.
