Why am I unable to start MATLAB 6.5 (R13) with Java if I have libvga.so.1.4.1 library file in my /usr/lib directory on a RedHat Linux machine?

This bug has been fixed in Release 14 Service Pack 3 (R14SP3). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:
This is a bug when using MATLAB 6.5 (R13) with the libvga.so.1.4.1 library file in your /usr/lib directoryX. Our development staff is currently investigating this issue.
The only way to work around this issue is to keep moving the libvga library back and forth to start MATLAB with java.
